Based on the ETL, It seems Mac OS client using SMB/RPC printing from MacOS to Windows. Is there some option to keep the authentication session valid even when the printer goes in sleeping mode? Maybe some sort of mac-pinning that locks the device on the port? Finally, open the command prompt in Windows (type cmd at the Run prompt) and enter the command ipconfig /all look for the Hostname entry to know your computer’s host name.

Also make a note of the shared printer name. Then I see the port comes up again, but the printer is not trying to authenticate anymore unless you restart the device. In the Printer Properties window, switch to the sharing tab and check the option Share this Printer. Bizarre, I would have never thought that resetting the printer would solve a network/domain. Resetting the Printer solved the issue - I re-added the printer in Mojave, and clicked Guest and can print successfully. When the printer goes in sleeping mode, the switch port goes down and the authentication session is cleared. Attempting to use the Guest login would yield the same outcome - continual Hold for Authentication / no successful print.

This means that for shared clients, once a printer is authenticated any subsequent users of that client do not need to authenticate when they print.

Everything works fine except for label printers that go in sleeping mode. Authentication is required only once for each printer, and is done when the printer is used for the first time by any user of that particular client. I've set up RADIUS/MAC authentication on Ruckus ICX7150 switches on a customers site.
